Michelle D. Gibbs Mostoller, 45 of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Arrangements for prayer service in Wahpeton on Thursday, March 28, have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Michelle will lie in state at 6:00 PM Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Michelle was born on January 21, 1979, in Rolla, Missouri.  She grew up in St James, MO, and was involved in many different activities and sports. She completed her GED in 1997. After a few moves, her family put down roots in Wahpeton, ND where she has continued to raise her three children, Kaleb, Morgan, and Makenzie alongside her partner, Patrick Jones, and his children, Riley and Sophia.

There were many things Michelle was passionate about in life, but God, her family, and friends were at the top of the list. It was never a question whether Michelle had entered a room–you could feel her energy and hear that Southern accent from a mile away! She loved being involved in her kids’ lives in every way and was always their number one fan. She was passionate about encouraging them to pursue their education and was able to be hands-on with them during her time as a Paraprofessional at the Wahpeton School District. She made sure everyone around her knew they were loved and seen and would always help anyone in any way she could. Michelle was a woman of strong faith and her love for Jesus was known to anyone who knew her. There was never a doubt in her mind about where she was going when it was her time. Her warm hugs and warm personality will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved her.

Michelle is survived by her son, Kaleb (Wahpeton, ND); daughters, Morgan, and Makenzie Mostoller (Wahpeton, ND); parents, Larry and Carolyn Gargus (St. James, MO), Ronald Gibbs (Salem, MO); grandparents, James and Carol Broyles (Salem, MO); step-brothers Justin (Kelli) Gargus (Ozark, MO) and Jason (Jessica) Gargus (St. James, MO); half-sister, Traci Gibbs (Salem, MO); aunt and uncle, Lori and Ralph Price and their son, Donavan Hall, (O’Fallon, MO); and partner, Patrick Jones and his children, Riley and Sophia Jones (Wahpeton, ND).

Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene & Helen Gibbs; great grandparents, James Sr. and Nora Broyles, William and Hazel Dunning; aunt, Patti Pewitt; and uncle Dennis Pewitt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Michelle’s name.
